Australia, New Zealand and Fiji with Terry and Christine February – March 2013
April 11, 2013
I’ve been off to Australia and New Zealand again, and to Fiji this time with Terry and Christine Gill (branch 2). Plus, I kept going eastwards and crossed the International Date Line and had two March 28ths. Funny thing this date line, I arrived in America before I left Fiji!
I went to Cape Tribulation in northern Queensland where Captain Cook’s ship the Endeavour struck the Great Barrier Reef.
I stayed in a forest cabin beside the beach.
Then I went to Sydney where I met Joy and Glenn Johnson (branch 2) and also tried to climb Sydney Harbour Bridge but was told I was too small.
I spent some time on the beach in Melbourne where my photograph was taken with the beach huts on Brighton beach.
I also went to Waitangi in New Zealand and tried a bit of sailing in the Bay of Islands. Tricky things these catamarans.
Then I arrived in Fiji and stayed on the tropical island next door to where the film Castaway was made.
Tom Hanks eat your heart out. It was lovely and hot and the midgies didn’t bother me. After crossing the dateline, I looked in at Los Angeles airport to change planes before getting back down to Devon.

Captain James Goes to London
January 3, 2013
At new year I did go to London with Martha and Rob to see some puppets at the theatre in War Horse. It were very good but the osses didn’t look much like Clovelly donkeys.
The next day we did go to see some people playing a game they do call ‘football’. It was very odd and there be lots of shouting.
Now I be back in Lincolnshire where Janet Few (Branch 6) and Chris Braund (Branch 2) do be visiting.
A Few Days in Cologne 22nd – 24th December (Branch 6)
December 26, 2012
I just be back from a few days in Germany. We did go by train on a very long trip.
I saw the Cathedral. It be a bit bigger than St Anne’s at Bucks.
Here is a view of Cologne from the top of a very high up building. Don’t look like there be many fish in that there water.
There were lots of padlocks couple had put on this bridge. I did think I should have brought one for Mary and me to leave.
There be very calm water in Cologne – this doesn’t look like any boat I seen before.
Rob and Martha had some tea. I didn’t have a very comfy seat ‘ere.
Here be the Cathedral again with Martha, on the roof of some art gallery. It all be very odd.
Then we did look at the Christmas markets. It all be very busy and noisy and there were some very funny music there.
Merry Christmas from Captain James.
More Cinema and a Holiday
December 21, 2012
Yesterday I went on a train to visit Lincoln again and went back to the cinema, this time to see Life of Pi. There be a boat and lots of water. I never seen one of them tigers down Clovelly though.
Today I have packed my bags and my passport as tomorrow I do be off to Germany with Martha and Rob (Branch 6). I do hope they remember to bring me back.
